Your aloof kitty truly adores you, study says
Relax cat owners, you can stop obsessing about whether your beloved kitty really loves you. According to a new University of Tokyo study, he actually adores you – he's just not very good at showing his emotions. Apparently cats have evolved to hide their feelings, as looking weak out in the wild could make them look tasty to predators. Researchers tested cats' reactions to their humans by playing recordings of their voices and recordings of strangers. Not only did they move their heads and ears toward the source when they heard their owners, but their pupils dilated – a powerful emotional signal showing excitement or arousal – which is something they can do without damaging their reputation of being totally aloof.
